Once the European Patent Office has granted a European patent, the patent will need to be validated in all countries desired. The validation procedure consists of meeting the national procedural requirements that prevail in each country. In other words, each European country has its own procedure. The countries desired can be a selection of previously designated countries. All countries that are party to the European Patent Convention, these are all European Union countries and a few more others, may be designated.
In the Netherlands all claims must be translated into Dutch. If the European application has not been drawn up in English, the text too will have to be translated into English. Nederlandsch Octrooibureau will arrange for these formalities during the validation process.
For clients who are holding European patents, Nederlandsch Octrooibureau coordinates the validation process in all designated European countries. In this context we work closely together with several trusted local agents never losing sight of the quality of their achievements.
